Jan Schroder

Jan Schroder is an award-winning writer based in Atlanta. She works as the managing editor and web editor of travelgirl magazine and is also the editorial director of Schroder Public Relations.

Jan has won six finalist Green Eyeshade Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Golden Flame Award from the International Association of Business Communicators. She has been published in Elle magazine, Creative Loafing, Atlanta Parent, Fulton County Daily Report, the Charlotte Observer, and Chicken Soup for the Expectant Mothers Soul. Her articles have also appeared online in Miami Herald.com, Ledger-Inquirer.com, divinecaroline.com, Boulder Weekly.com and uptownscoop.com.

Jan wrote a column for restaurants in Atlanta for many years, which appeared in The Story newspapers and The Reporter newspapers.

Her corporate work includes articles, magazines and profiles for AGL Resources, King & Spalding, The Coca-Cola Company, Rock-Tenn, Consumer Credit Counseling Service and Colonial Properties Trust.

She is the author of three books, Just a Stage, Murphy's: 25 Years of Recipes and Memories, and Raising the Bar: Legendary Rainmakers Share Their Business Development Secrets, which she ghostwrote for a client of Schroder Public Relations. [Please see book section.]

Her travels have taken her crocodile hunting in Belize, snorkeling in San Salvador, snowshoeing in Yosemite, sailing in the British Virgin Islands, ziplining in Costa Rica and doing a whole lot of nothing on as many beaches as she could find. Highlights include watching her daughter run the Olympic Torch in Klamath Falls, Oregon, biking down Haleakala in Hawaii, and dining with her extended family at a castle in Tuscany.

Jan is a native of Atlanta and graduated cum laude from the University of Virginia. She is married to Chris Schroder, president of Schroder Public Relations, and is the mother to two children, Catherine and Christopher.
